Tweel expanded his business twice, first in 1948 and a second time in 1962. Much of the same equipment from the second expansion is still used today. However, the most famous addition to the restaurant came when a man named Bob Elmore gave Tweel a recipe for spaghetti sauce. Over the years, Tweel earned a reputation as an unofficial ambassador for the city of Huntington, keeping a door open for anyone visiting the city. John F. Kennedy had breakfast at the diner during his successful presidential campaign. Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton also have visited Jim's Steak & Spaghetti House, as did Sen. Bob Dole. Today, the restaurant is managed by Jim's daughter Jimmie Carder. A number of musicians and actors, including Dustin Hoffman, also have visited. When we left the restaurant the waitress came to us in the parking lot and informed us that the people from our table offered to move to another table. We were so upset and disappointed that our special evening was ruined and we did not know were we could go, because we were not familiar with the area and there was no more time to make new reservation somewhere else. I was disappointed enough to stop by the restaurant the next day to share my complaint. Owner was not in but spoke with the hostess who remembered us from the night before and assured me that the owner would be contacting me to make it right, I left my contact info. Never heard from the owner - so I suppose I'm done with Hiro. Debating charging back my $100 credit card purchase as the product wasn't right and service was horrible.
