They suggested that I crush the pavement, replace the pipes and quoted a neat ~ $7500. I paid what seems close to double going rate. Here is what is on my invoice (and what I paid): -$195 for the snaking (on the high end, especially since the pipes were still clogged by the time they were В“finishedВ”). (Electric Rooter charged $135!!!) - Toilet removal: $155 (!): ridiculous for 5 min work. I did this myself the second time, took me 10-15 min (the other company I hired charges a more reasonable $40!). - Camera inspection: $250. I was pressed into this totally useless job which took them 5 minutes and brought zero insight. Why was Electric Rooter successful when B&E Rooter failed? Their machine seemed much newer and stronger, with a longer snake. All in all, the charge was $620 whereas the Electric Rooter charged $135 for the same job but, unlike B&E, actually DID the work. The tech did not even inspect my motor other than to stand next to it and say, ""Your system is froze-up and needs replacing."" I deferred to their expertise and had the pump and motor assembly replaced to the tune of $675.00. After they finished and left I then took the old pump and motor assembly to my workbench. When I turned the motor shaft with my screwdriver I could hear the pump gurgle, so I knew it wasn't froze-up. I opened the control box, identified the startup capacitor, and ordered a replacement - total cost: $12.99. When I installed the new capacitor the motor immediately started and ran perfectly. I did this in 15 minutes and I know nothing about well pumps and motors.
