As it turns out, they do not administer a sedative before injecting the lethal medication that stops the heart. Because Pancho was not sedated first, he had a TERRIBLE reaction to the lethal injection, and let out 4 bloodcurdling screams before his heart stopped. While he was screaming, he stretched his legs long and tight. For the next minute or more after his heart stopped, he made these awful sounds that the vet said was air being emitted from this diaphragm. That made me scream when it first happened, because I thought he was still alive. The whole experience was beyond traumatic. Poor Pancho, who had experienced a serious illness for the last three years, wasn't even able to die in peace because the Animal Hospital of Cotati couldn't be bothered with giving a sedative first. They assured me that it is very rare of a dog to experience this reaction, but I can assure you, if it has happened even once before it happened to Pancho, they should have changed their procedure for euthanizing animals. The vet told me that Pancho's screams were from a kind of disorientation rather than pain, but whether the screams were from pain or fear, it was an awful, awful way to die. My cat had stopped eating for a few days and I was getting worried after reading up I decided to call around to the local vets from both in Paradise and down in Chico. First I explained that I was on a very fixed income and did not have a lot of money to spend and I asked about rates for the following list 1: Cost of an office visit. 2: Cost of a blood panel. 3: Cost of an X-Ray. After talking to all the vets explaining my problem most were helpful in telling me I needed to get my cat looked at as soon as possible all most all could get me in that day. But when it came down to cost there was a big difference They were by far the least expensive of the bunch for every item with the cost of a visit at $41 dollars where the next cheapest was $58. The cost of the blood panel and they did suggest we do a less than full to see if it warranted a more exhaustive one or not to save me money thankfully I did not need another it was $65 dollars the next cheapest was $104. And after a check up with me in the room they felt there was no reason for an ex-ray. They gave my little guy a urinalysis test which was $15 dollars and which found out what was wrong with him something had stressed him out and he had kidney problems assured me it was not serious gave me some medicine which was $11 dollars a good deal below the cost I was told others were charging. They asked me if I needed to apply for a interest free payment program that was available or not. The whole time the staff was warm and caring. The office was clean the house cat was adorable and the house dog gave me a good deal of attention. I was told to either call or come in if anything seemed wrong and they would check him out right away. This is how it is supposed to be Fast on time appointments even on day of call good service by a caring and knowledgeable staff. From now on I will trust these people with all my pet needs and will recommend them to others needing a good fair and caring vet for their furry friends they also have a low cost spay and neuter clinic which is in short supply around here. Give them a call and check them out. You would think they would be willing to somehow help a student who is obviously trying to help herself. I strongly suggest others do the same. This is in response to my review. So yesterday I received a call from Baxter, the director of admissions from Carrington College. He mentioned that the customer service I was given could be better so they're gonna go ahead & make the time I put in count. So not only do I not have to take the five weeks over again, I got to start last night, which was when I was supposed to. The reason for the change of heart wasn't mentioned but I was well taken care of by a very nice young man named Stewart & Baxter as well. Everyone deserves a second chance, so that's why I decided to continue with Carrington. I hope i'm not disappointed again & that all goes well.",,,,

For the first time in his life he didn't need a muzzle or 5 people to hold him still. As a team and individually they were extremely compassionate and gentle with our Max, he was calm and didn't end up with his normal post vet trip stomach issues. Honestly I had no idea what to expect when we made the appointment. and now we will only use this MUCH NEEDED Service. that I had no idea I was missing until we found them!!!"
